In Northwest Austin, you’ll find many families looking to build roots as well as young professionals who prefer a more laid-back and quiet lifestyle. The area is known for its lush green parks and its highly respected schools. Galaxy Cafe is a locally owned eatery with the best Mexican breakfast and hearty protein and veggie bowls for lunch. Waterloo Ice House 360 is the perfect place for a casual yet fun gathering with handmade meals and ice-cold beverages—and it even has a playground for the kids! Azul Tequila has a great patio and even better food (the salsa is unparalleled). Need a quick bite? Stop by Nekter for refreshing acai bowls or Beiderman’s Deli for the best bagels in Austin. For dinner, try fresh sushi at Ebisu or The Roaring Fork, a stylish and snazzy “Old West” restaurant serving flame-grilled American fare and cocktails. Ready for dessert? Hit up Cupprimo Cupcakes for one of their daily cupcake specials. You won’t be disappointed. 

The Domain is the most popular and ideal spot in Northwest Austin for everything shopping and dining. The walkable outdoor district has your favorite retail stores and local restaurants. The Arboretum is similar in nature and offers family-friendly events, multicultural restaurants, outdoor trails, and high-end shopping. Don’t forget to check out Vintage Fresh—the most adorable place for home goods.

Things to Do

This area is home to beautiful spaces of green, green, and more green. You’ll find a number of golf courses, parks, fields, and other recreational spaces. Head to Saint Edward’s Park to hike one of the trails then cool off in the watering hole. At Balcones Country Club, there is close-knit membership, spectacular events, and more. Coming soon in 2021 is Austin FC, Austin’s Pro Soccer Team and Stadium.

In Northwest Austin, there’s a quirky way to celebrate all the big days, too. At the Annual Fourth of July Parade, for example, the “official” Northwest Hills Lawn Chair Brigade performs. You don’t want to miss it!
