Welcome to Lakeway

Dreamy and scenic waterfront oasis to call home

In the exurb of Lakeway, you don’t have to choose between working hard and playing hard—you can do both. Just 30 minutes outside of Austin, you can live a lake lifestyle right on the southern shores of Lake Travis with access to waterside parks, lush greenery, open spaces, and beautiful views of the lake for which the city was named. This Texas Hill Country area was originally a popular place to live for retirees, but in recent years, it has become home to more and more families looking for a laid-back lifestyle.

There are numerous tennis courts, golf courses, hiking and biking trails, spa facilities, and of course, the famous lake that’s 65 miles long. Sprawling single-family homes, pristine lake houses, and luxurious estates that residents own make up most of the growing community. Lakeway is perfect for family and fun.

What to Love

  • Relaxed and serene lifestyle
  • Access to outdoor activities and fun
  • Gorgeous scenic views
  • Family-friendly area

People & Lifestyle

Lakeway residents value peace of mind and the outdoors. The community enjoys a relaxed day-to-day lifestyle and trades in the hustle and bustle of the city by day for a serene and quiet place to live by night. Here, you’ll find a range of ages, from retired couples to families to young professionals.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Lakeway may be on the outskirts of Austin, but it’s a hub for sophisticated yet low-key restaurants and entertainment all on its own. The Grove Wine Bar and Kitchen is the perfect place to sit out on the patio and enjoy a meal accompanied by casual yet upscale ambiance. (Get yourself a glass of red, too.)

Satisfy your melty, Mexican fare cravings at Santa Caterina with their homemade tortillas and margaritas, concocted with fresh lime juice. Cho Sushi is the go-to for Lakeway’s best Japanese cuisine—from exotic and classic sushi to fusion combinations. Looking for the tastiest pastries, paninis, and artisan bread made from scratch? Stop by European pâtisserie Baguette et Chocolat. Chisos Grill is gluten-free friendly and serves locally sourced southwestern fare in both a snazzy dining room and inviting outdoor patio.

For shopping, you can choose between Hill Country Galleria, Lakeway Village Square, and a few other spots that meet all of your retail needs.

Things to Do

Lakeway is known for its gorgeous Resort & Spa, private and public recreational spaces, lake activities, and more. The Hills of Lakeway has golf, tennis, swimming, and dining all under one roof (it also has the Elevation Athletic Club, which offers classes). Lakeway Swim Center is a popular destination for swimming, skating, playing giant chess and checkers, and getting active on the volleyball court, basketball court, and climbing wall.

Lake Travis is the main attraction, perfect for boating and swimming. The Lakeway Marina offers water sport rentals such as pontoons, jet skis, basic speed boats, and paddle boats. (They even have dinner cruises and party boats.) Once a year, there’s Lake Travis SpringFest, where residents and visitors come out for fun in the sun all day at the family-friendly event. There is live music, a barbecue cook-off, and fun activities for all ages.

For quirky fun, take the kids to Dragon Park to uncover fossil evidence found in the limestone deposits around Lakeway. Plant and molluscan forms, as well as dinosaur footprints, are said to be visible. High 5 is a great place to bowl, play arcade games, or try your hand at laser tag.
